What Is KP Astrology?

Krishnamurti Paddhati, commonly known as KP Astrology, is a system developed by the late Prof. K. S. Krishnamurti in the twentieth century. It builds on the foundations of traditional Vedic astrology while introducing a distinct method of analysis centred on Nakshatras (star constellations), Star Lords and Sub-Lords.
Where many astrological approaches focus on broad life themes, KP is often used by practitioners to examine a specific, clearly defined question - for example, timing related to a career change or a relationship - by looking closely at the ruling planets and significators connected to that particular matter.
The core building blocks of KP
KP analysis works with the same twelve houses and nine planets used in Vedic astrology, but adds a more detailed layer: each Nakshatra is divided into Sub-Divisions ruled by a Sub-Lord. Practitioners consider the Sub-Lord of a house cusp or planet to refine their interpretation of what that placement may indicate.
This additional layer is why KP is sometimes described as a more granular method - not because it removes uncertainty, but because it gives the practitioner a structured way to narrow down which indications are most relevant to a specific question.
Who KP consultations are for
You do not need to understand any of this terminology before a consultation. The KP method is something the practitioner applies - your role is simply to bring the question or situation you would like to explore.
